Styles and series

The portfolio moves between staged figure work, atmospheric landscapes and experimental photographic treatments. Each series explores a different way of turning a frame into a finished image.

Photography became the more convenient way for me to express myself than drawing or painting, and the portfolio gathered here reflects that shift. It collects personal works across different styles, including images that found recognition in international and national competitions. Rather than presenting a single uniform signature, the collection moves between staged figure work, atmospheric landscapes and experimental photographic treatments, each series exploring a different way of turning a frame into a finished image.

The fine art series are built around light, texture and controlled composition, treated as finished pieces rather than documentary frames. Some images are quiet and contemplative, others push the limits of what a camera can suggest, but all of them carry the imprint of an artistic education and a long practice. Moving through the series is meant to feel like wandering through rooms in a quiet gallery, each wall offering a different mood, a different temperature of colour.

Alongside the completed series, the site includes selected works, styles and notes on process, plus references to workshops, tutorials and a shop for those who want to learn more about the craft. Sharing what has been learned feels as natural as sharing the finished photographs themselves. The approach is deliberately unhurried and low-gloss: soft earthy colour, generous white space and plain, legible typography, so the images keep the attention rather than the interface.

Behind the photographs is a long personal journey, from a university education and architectural training through to the moment a second-hand camera made photography affordable and worth pursuing. What started as a curious experiment with a Powershot and a modest zoom soon turned into a genuine artistic practice, earning opportunities to photograph, to score, and to be invited into social and professional networks of artists. The result is a body of work that keeps growing, still driven by the same curiosity that first made a camera feel like a brush.

Practice

Behind the frames

Dmitry Rogozhkin is a photographer based in Russia. He was born and raised in Malmyzh and later attended the University of Architecture, where he earned money during his first year to buy a Canon 7D, after starting in 2011 with a Canon PowerShot 20x.

Photography became his primary form of self-expression, taking the place of drawing and painting in his daily work.
